Long story short, the woman I bought my boat from will not give me the stainless steel prop she said would come with the boat  . Therefor, I am looking for some suggestions for a another prop to be used as a main or backup prop.

My Donzi is a 1993 Classic 18 with a 5.8L EFI and Cobra outdrive. I am not sure if it is a King Cobra I do not see the word "King" anywhere so I assume it is a standard Cobra outdrive.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Sincerely,

Brad

Brad, the mercury mirage plus props work
on the OMC's if they have the flow-torque hub
and the proper OMC insert for that drive.

An OMC "Raker" or a Merc "Mirage Plus" would work well for your application.

Thanks for the input. Is there a certain size or pitch I should get?

I'm running the 14 - 1/2 X 22 Raker on my 18 Classic King Cobra (or is that 14 - 1/4?). Drive gear ratio - 1.43/1 and 5100 - 5300 RPM.

Raker seems to be fine, but sometime I would like to test others just to see/feel the difference.

Mirage Plus is the ticket on the 18's with Alphas and Bravo's. Not sure how it would be on an OMC drive, but it would probably work fine. I run a 25p Mirage plus with 300hp and a 1.65:1 Bravo drive. Most 300hp 18's with a 1.5:1 Alpha or Bravo run the 23p.

Brad, I may have a new 23" Mirage Plus that I might be parting with. I need to do some testing in a few weeks and then I will know for sure. Give me a shout if you would like to chat.

Unbelievably, the woman I bought my boat from called the other day and left a message on my answering machine. She said that if I still wanted the prop to come and get it. She said she would leave it on her front porch for me.

Well I got this message last night so today I drove over to her house (about 20 miles each way) and there it was on her front porch. It is a Raker 14 ½ X 20 in immaculate condition. I am totally shocked, but I now know why she did not want to part with it. She knew she was going to buy a new boat and I guess she thought that it would fit the new boat, but if not she had written her name and $579.00 OBO on it. I guess she figured she could sell it for that amount of money. Oh well her loss and my gain.
