Bjorn,

The transom holes differ greatly from the OMC to the Bravo 1. You will need to glass the transom up and recut the holes to fit the Bravo transom assembly in. Easier said than done! http://www.donzi.net/ubb/smile.gif Probably not what you wanted to hear...

I THINK THAT THE HOLE IS PRETTY MUCH THE SAME FROM THE COBRA TO BRAVO. I KNOW THAT THAT WAS THE INTENTION WHEN THEY DESIGNED IT.

Yea, doesn't the OMC Cobra, Volvo SX and Mercuriser fit the same cutout? It should be a easy retrofit; however, you may be better off to not do the retrofit if those drives are King Cobras.

RickR has no complaints wit his King Cobra.

Seano, you are probably thinking about the old OMC drive with the boot.

Hey Guys...While I will agree that the holes are close...they do not match exactly. I believe that just as with an Alpha/Bravo conversion, the bolt holes are a bit different and the actual cutout is different. The other issue(which may be a non-issue) is the x-dimension---are the Bravo and Cobra drives the same length? I'm not quite sure on this one...

Anyway, while I was doing my MR/Bravo conversion on the Cigarette, I thought it better to start with two fresh holes rather than hack up the transom, and/or add fillers here and there...

just my two cents. BTW, It's great to see such a resource as Allan here! Does he have any Cigarette info????

Bjørn, can you get a deal on Volvo DP-X drives over there? The DP-X has an integral hydraulic steering system like a Merc SSM #6, a bullet-proof design that easily takes 650 to 700 HP out of the box, and they are fast. The only reason tha I can see not to get DP-X drives is that they are so darn expensive - at least they are here in the USA.

Please explain in detail why you do not like OMC.
The late model King Cobra is essentially a Volvo product.
I own both and I think the OMC is a better drive.
If you think Merc has a great product I have access to a couple of Merc 470s if you need a good ANCHOR.
