For those interested, here are some pics from an old Cobalt catalog (late 60's / early 70's) showing their first boats that were, as some of you know, copies of several Donzi models. Also, some shots of remaining boats that I know of. (The white XV-200 w/ green stripe is my boat. The orange GT-500 belongs to a freind of Tony's.) Oh, the engine pics are mostly my old and new engine (one of the GT-500's engine too) Anything look familiar? Enjoy!

Noticed 8 pic max., so for some of pics described above, go to other post of same name and click on "click here" in Forrest's reply (Thanks Forrest). That will take you to Photopoint account where the rest are. Original intent was to post a few more here, but that will work.

Thought I'd slap a few final shots in the photopoint album to show what Cobalt was doing besides, as Allan B. said, popping the entire Donzi line! Interestingly enough, aside from 2 tri-hulls they may have used (or planned to) a couple of a second company's designs; The Continental (fast, low V-drives). I have never seen either of these so don't know if they were actually produced by Cobalt. Unlike the Donzi's they actually state these 2 models were formerly Continentals. Note same guy driving in most shots (the Crew cut and sun glasses guy!! ). Has anyone ever seen any of these little V-drives? They remind me of an old Hallet. Only 725lbs, 18' and you could choose a 327 Chevy or 455 Olds. Whoaa! No good in waves but, I imagine fast in smooth water.

You know Craig, I now remember that I used to have that Cobalt catalog back when was in high school in the early seventies. I always thought the artwork of the blue flat bottom on the stand was pretty cool. Hmmm . . . I wonder what happened to that old catalog?
