Is this a good drive?????
This is a V-Drive boat, an inboard not an IO.
Fun to drive. Quiet shifting, will drive more like a ski boat. GEOO

Performance wise.....how do they compare with an outdrive. How about maintainance, availablity of parts.
I guess you have to define "performance" here. You will note that there hasn't been a new V-drive small Vee Hull type boat developed since the introduction of the Bravo. They were used because only V-drives and Jets could handle big block engines. They drive alittle flatter in a turn and there is no trim up option. Which isn't that big of a problem since these hulls typically had a slight rocker built-in and the direction of thrust is inline with the angle of the prop shaft and is transmitted to midships; right about where your ankles are in an 18. They are slightly cheaper to run gas wise, are lighter, and less expensive to refit than outdrives. You need either a thru hull water intake or a transom mounted intake.
