In BoatTrader Online, there is a 21' Minx located in Cincinnati, OH. What do you think about this style Donzi? Is there a cuddy under the front deck? Any Minx owners out there? Let me give this picture thing a try! Thanks Chris! Your boat looks fantastic!

I have the same boat and it is a joy to drive. A little underpowered with a stock small block though..

Tory,
Is the boat available with a big block? Is there room for one in the engine area? It looks like the boat has high sides, does it compared to the 18' classic? I have a wife and a 3 yr. old who would appreciate more freeboard.

The Boat has excellent freeboard and has enough room for a big block. Current plans are going to be a 383 stroker with some good head work. The boat is a much bigger boat than the 18 in my opinion. CMDA was out to see it and he was impressed with the room or so he says. That one that you have a picture of looks like a good deal. Ask if he has the Tempest motor in there. email me for more info

How does the Minx hull compare to a 21GT, looks very similar, the 21GT is a real tough hull with a solid ride

Boldts,
Check mine out, and Randy Hibbard's out in the registry. I love mine, I'm sure he'll respond about his. The MINX is a distinctive breed in the Donzi lineup. No there is no cuddy, lots of storage space though. It is rock solid at speed in the rough. I am currently at the 60 mark with a 19"Mirage Plus at 4800, which is too tame a pitch. Although not the torque of a BBC, the mouse can be made to cook pretty well. I have the Stainless Marine Exhaust on my boat and it definately helps the SBC breathe. Have it surveyed, if the transom comes clean with the body hammer, then you have an abundance of knowledgeable friends here to help you with anything else that could be problematic. They are definately different in appearence from the 18's and 22's. Good luck.

Tim.

Tim,
Thanks for your input. I checked out yours and Randy's boats. The cockpit looks very spacious. I was looking for a 21Z due to the cuddy cabin up front when this dealer contacted me about this 21' Donzi. While I was on the phone with him, I described what the Z looked like and he had to go outside and look at the boat again. When he got back on the line, he told me it was a Minx. I was kind of disappointed, but after seeing the picture and the shots of your boats, I think I'm going to make a trip to Cincy this Saturday. You may see my 18' Classic for sale in here Sunday.

Boldts,
That's what I did. Just RIGHT click on the image, choose Properties, highlight the Address: (URL), to copy use keys: CTRL + C, click on OK, go back to the posting screen (best if you have a couple of screens open), Use this for the brackets XXXX, Past the image, (to paste use keys: CTRL + V) with in the XXXX area with no spaces starting with http://

I think this makes sense?

Thanks Looped.
I had the process correct, just was using the address from my internet address line instead of the picture properties address.

Boldts, there is also one for sale in Lake Tahoe area, Sacramento, Yellow and White, otherwise the same. Tandem yellow trailer, fresh water life, 350. Looks very nice from multiple pictures the owner sent me. I can give you his e-mail if you are interested. He "wants" between 12-15G he said but has had no luck in selling it in the last 4 months... http://www.donzi.net/ubb/smile.gif

Thanks Lenny. The boat that is pictured here is 2 hours away from my home and the selling price is listed as 12,900. Lake Tahoe is some major hours from OH and my 18' is blue and white which just happens to be my favorite color. Lenny, any interest in a 1969 18'Holman Moody 2+3 Classic? Would like $6,000, but I might be flexible due to knowing the boat is going to need fiberglass work. It has the 302 Ford, but not the HM engine anymore. There is a bridge to Canada in Detroit MI. I could bring it that far to met you.

I was on the verge of flying to Decatur, Alabama to look at a big-block Minx about this time last year. Owner had just cratered an Alpha and it had a second one on it...

Spooked me away from it. Asking price was around $16K if I remember correctly.

News from Cincy by way of a Donzi Owner who lives there is that this is a solid boat, but needs a lot of clean up. He did not feel it is worth the 12,900 asking price. It seems it has been stored in a indoor rack building which is good, but with no cover at all including the cockpit cover. Boat is very dirty. It has a Magnum 350 engine with a Alpha outdrive. Trailer would also need repainting due to much surface rust. I may wonder down from Columbus, OH and still check it out, but it is not really what I'm looking for and after 15 + years of owning my 18' Classic, It would be very hard for me to sell her. I love my wife, but her picture is at home and my Donzi picture is at work with me. My Donzi was my first real girlfriend! http://www.donzi.net/ubb/biggrin.gif

Hi Boldts, The info from Tim and Tory is correct. This is a unique Donzi with a smooth ride and very sleek look. I just took my girlfriend for a late afternoon hell ride around the SanFranciscio Bay and under the golden gate. Fantastic! We were a bit sore from the Pacific chop but stayed totally dry. Try that in an 18. I wish you well in your search for more room for the familly. A cuddy cabin or a new Donzi ZX would be the best, but a Minx still has that classic style. The one in Tahoe sounds nice I think. The Yellow would be baaadddd! Randy H
