Part 1) A guy in the same marina as me has a 21' Superboat with a 350 MFI w/ Bravo 1 outdrive. He claims to have seen 83 mph on GPS with this setup. I have seen this boat run and it does fly ;all boats with this hull ie; Superboat, Challenger seem to fly. In fact he was out today baiting me to try and run with him which I know I can't even come close. Dose his claimed speed of 83 sound feasible with his combination?

Part 2) How fast can a 20' Minx be made to go and be safe? I'm sure that I can't go 83 and I probably don't want to go that fast but I would like to be able to run 65 to 70. Is that a reasonable goal for this hull design?

Personally, I would be skeptical about the 83 mph claim.

As for the other question, safety has a different value for different people. Ask Geo. :)

-----Top speed on these old boats seems to be tied to either your intelligence or the depth of your pockets.I put a certain Conneticut X18 owner in the first catagory!.............Bill(pocketless)S

Okay so you either need to be nuts or have huge nuts to go really fast in these older hulls? Back to my original question; is 65-70 feasible for this hull and would it be safe for a sane person to drive at this speed? I know that some of the 22' classics run this fast and faster but I have never heard of a Minx running that fast.
