over heating

i have a big block fresh water cooled---last year i put new impellers in --this year just launched the boat and find it is not pumping any water out of the exhaust--mechanic ran garden house on land and there was no problem --where should i start?

Naturally, the impeller is the first place to start. I change mine a couple of times a season. A $40 impeller is cheap and makes more sense to have fresh one, when in doubt. I'll bet you didn't let the garden hose run long. It would have certainly heated up before long.

Then, how about changing to a thru-hull water pick up. Makes a lot of sense. Four time the available water. Again, it's cheap.
