What's up with 17'? I've never heard of anything mfg'd by Donzi that was 17'. Am I mistaken?

Well, I'm assuming it's at least an 18....wouldn't it have to be if it were an original v-drive?

That looks like an 18. I've seen a 67 ski sporter with a factory V-drive and small block ford.

Howard, I just got off the phone with this guy. He's owned the boat for one year. Motor was running funny, did some valve work then a head gasket and finally found that the exhaust was leaking. It has a 383 ci Chrysler and needs new exhaust. No trim tabs or cavitation plates. He believes the boat was bought with out a drive and the first owner did the rigging. This guy dosen't seam to know much of the history. GEOO

Well, it pays to always carry a digital camera in the car.

I saw this boat in Long Beach, Ca. almost a year ago. I had just bought my own Donzi 18 so even though I knew it was an interesting piece I decided to pass anyway. Too bad it wasn’t a Hornet……or I’d own it !

The story is as follows:

The boat came out of Arizona. It was supposedly Don Aronow’s personal boat..(haven’t we heard that before !! ), does 70 mph….blah..blah..blah It was on consignment to a dealer, the asking price from the dealer in Long Beach was about
$ 4500 or so. I got the telephone # from the dealer of the eventual buyer and spoke to him. He bought this boat and then told me he had dumped a whole bunch of money into it, including rebuilding the engine. He was now asking $ 6000 for the boat.

The serial # on the Hull is # AZZ5477TH676

I kinda feel I missed out on a pretty neat boat…but this isn’t the first time and it won’t be the last !!

Nice job Stan! Thanks for all the info on this interesting boat. No offense to you Ford and Chevy guys, but to have a big block Chrysler in the back of a Donzi, talk about cool! I feel sorry for the guy who`s going to be looking for the exhast manifolds. Good luck!

I Know, Howard. That`s less than I just paid for my new Alpha One! Someone got a good deal on that boat. I would have gone for external headers if I had to!!!!!!!
