I have been trying to upload pictures of the day I took delivery on the Hornet. I am not too good with the computer.

ol Red, I have never driven this boat! I bought it over the internet as I had not seen a Hornet for sale of this vintage. I had a friend who lived close to the seller, and I had him survey the boat for me and i purchased it from about 15 jpg photos that he sent. It is all original except for the steering wheel. The gentleman that I bought it from had owned it for 22 plus years and had taken great care of it. It is powered with the original 350 Corvette 320 Chris Craft Marine engine and seems to be in great condition. The interior looks great, but has some splits in the tuck and roll, which I knew when I bought it. The interior will eventually have to be replaced just due to the age. I cannot wait for the weather to warm up here in Iowa and take it out for it's maiden voyage. It is about as original and nice as one could expect to find.

RH,
That is one awsome Donzi Hornet. (How did I miss that on the Internet?) It's even my favorite Donzi colors. Sure hope you will do us the honor of bringing her to Lake Cumberland in May. (AOTH II) :)

Is it just me, or does the Hornet hull look suspiciously like my Formula SC 20? I can tell you it is one smooth, dry riding hull. Beautiful boat you have. Congratulations!

I was planning on a big roadtrip out Scottsdale to get it, and I contacted a guy from my hometown that is a trucker. Ironically, he was in Phoenix that very next week. So I arranged to have him load it on to his trailer and he winterized it for me for the cold ride back to Iowa. $800 for 1687 miles. He was very careful and I am pleased. The weather has been really lousy since I have got it back here. I just put some wax on it and put it in the building. I will try to post some pictures of the engine compartment and interior. The glass is in excellent condition.

Congrats on the new boat - it's beautiful!!

Is that an original Iva-lite on the deck? I had one on my Century and everone told me it was the most valuable thing on the boat wink

Good luck with her!!

Hornet is a 1972, and the Iva Light was an added on by the owner and not the factory. Beleive it or not, but this Hornet was used at Lake Powell with a family of four for camping trips. The boat was sold new at Lake Tahoe and then the last owner had owned it for the last 22 plus years. The kids are gone now and they replaced it with a 23 Sea Ray Cuddy for their trips to Laek Powell. The wife wanted a bathroom! It has really been cared for remarkebly well. I have not started it yet due to the cold weather and hard water on our lakes this time of year, but everything else works fine. Gauges are original and lights all work. Turns over and outdrive goes up and down fine. This is my first Volvo outdrive. Grew up with Mercrusiers and inboards, so there always is a first!
