Despite the damage reported in my other post we had a great time at Powell this weekend. All sun, 90+ degree air, 68 degree water and Prime Rib on Friday night. I thought I'd post some pictures for those who'll probably never get to see Powell. The water is down 55' but that just means there are more beaches. I should have some short videos soon.

These were taken in Middle Rock Creek Canyon, about 35 miles up from the Dam. Saturday we put well over 100 miles on the boat running back and forth between the marinas.

WOW! those are great pics! The only thing we have like that is the golf courses but ours has grass on the fairways. But no place to go boating. I'd trade the grass for the water.

Here's a map of the lake and where we were camped. It's a BIG LAKE eek! Every side canyon is like it's own little lake.

If you ever get crazy, advertise the last pic and it will add 2G to the sales price of your boat.

Powell was surreal when I was there a couple years ago. All those sand stone caves you can just float into. Beach and walk in any direction and there are miles of nothing but natural landscape. Thousands of little coves, each one worthy of a photo shot. I gotta do that again. Its just a mind bogglingly beautiful place.

Rick, Great shots! It sort of looks like a NJ road construction (Take away a few Mountains ) Garden state my *** Was that water deep? That one boat was stern to the shore and looked a little close to shore.

Frank,
The water depth changes quite a bit. The gray & maroon boat was in an area that dropped off quickly to probably 10'. I'm parked over a shelf of sand, about 3' deep. The overall water depth is very similar to what you see above ground. Some areas are quite deep 150'+ while other areas have shelves or peaks that come close to the surface. You really have to be careful where you go due to the fact that if you hit something underwater it's usually solid rock. It's an awesome place and I feel very fortunate to live less than 2-hours away. I should have some more pictures and video soon of us running up the main channel. The water in the main channel can get pretty nasty but the little Donzi seems to likes it that way.
