My next boat will be either a 30-33 Crossbow or a Black Widow. Whats the difference in the 2 boats ? Most likely I would buy a late 1980's model.

The Z-29 from the late 80's came with the 350 engine packages. They were elongated in 1986 or so, to accomodate the 454 engine packages without the boat porposing. Enter the Z-33. In 1988 or so, the OMC people began calling the Z-33 the "Crossbow" Both are great boats and do about the same speed. My Z-33 does about 60 MPH with the two 454/Bravo 1 outdrives. They are stock engines, 330 hp each. The Black Widow boats came along during the OMC era starting in about 1989/90. They were designed by the Genth/Staples era folks just before selling to OMC. They are also great boats, just now as many out there. The Black Widow 30 was discontinued in early 1990s, I think. All good boats. It gets down to your preference. Email me, if you like, or call 727-867-7020.

Good luck!

Richard,

I have been on your boat.....very nice ride....your's is one reason I want a crossbow. I see a few black widows out there and was just curious as to the difference.

Missed you in Vegas last week.

Hope all is well.

There is quite a bit of difference between these two boats. Both are Great looking, although I prefer the Z-33 for obvious reasons (I own one). The Widow was a bit shorter (3 foot), a bit lighter (600lbs) and carried about 70 gallons less fuel. I would say the Widow was faster and a bit less plush. Some of the eguipment was a bit higher end on the Z-33, like VDO gauges and leather seating in the cabin. Now that I tried to talk you into a Z-33, Mine is for sale....You would look good in either one, They are both GREAT boats, remember they say DONZI on the side...

Stan, I wondered where you got off to. So, what happened to the 22 Classic.

We did have fun that day with my neighbors at lunch. Come see us again.

Throw me a call sometime.
