454 Magnum Carb, 350 @ prop, 25p Mirage+, 1/4 or less fuel, only driver on boar (210lbs.), 4700 rpm (tach accuracy is suspect), 68 mph on GPS.

With heavy load will hit 64-65mph.

500EFI, XR shortie, 29 Mirage, 5250, 1.5:1, 240lbs, 79-81. Fast but, not my favorite prop.

Hydro Q4 28, 5100, 78-79. The "wife pleaser."

Hydro P5 26, 74-75.

Hoping for a Turbo TXP 29 and 30, a Q4 27, and a Throttle-up tweaked P5 27 to try over the Labor Day weekend at Cumberland. I'll post my results here.

Roadtip SE,

How does your boat run at slower speeds with the XR shortie on it? I am considering a lot of changes but I do not want to affect the low speed cruise capability that I have. I boat on Lake Erie and do not want to lose the ability to cruise along at 20 - 25 mph in the typical 3 foot slop when going on dinner cruises with my wife and daughter.

Bgane,

In my opinion the X-dimension on the Classics is very conservative. The upside of the shortie is the ability to turn bigger props, 2-3 mph, and one wicked rooster. The downside is it does take more time to get on plane. I have experienced no handling problems at the low end, but your prop choice has as much of an impact on low end handling as the drive. I would recomend the Hydro Quad 4 for a great handling Classic 22.
