I just got my new Donzi 28 ZXO, a bit larger than my last boat. Was wondering if I am going to have any issues pulling it with my '01 Tahoe with 5.3. Towing capacity is indicated as 8900, and Donzi weighs 7200 + trailer.

:D Assuming you have a 4.10 Gear, we do fine with our little 22 and our Burban has 3.73 and your same power....ours is a 2002 and the Tow Haul mode gearing is amazingly efficient in managing the engine rpms...I was concerned with the smaller displacement engine....but it has not been and issue. My largest concern for a 28 Donzi would be stopping it!!! eek! That is alot of weight/mass pushing your Tahoe!...Good Luck...let us know if you get a new Truck...always curious.. wink Doc

I have a 2001 Tahoe w/5.3 and 3.73's. Up to a 23 footer, it's a GREAT towing vehicle. With my twin outboard 25 Contender, it was marginal at best.. a 28' is uncharted waters. I wouldn't think about road trips with what ya got, but maybe slow around town would suffice.

That's what I thought. I think that we may upgrade to a Suburban 2500 at the end of the year. I would think that would be more than sufficient. We frequently trailer between LOTO and Chicago, long haul if your being pushed by a boat the whole way.
