Tomorrow is the day (OK, maybe Thursday); holes are going to get drilled into the transom for the trim tabs.

Here are 2 pics of a current 18’ out of The Factory. http://www.donzi.net/photos/BWhitmore016.jpg

The tabs are positioned so that the actuator is set about 1/3 of the distance from the chine to the bottom C/L. This puts the actuator just ‘inboard’ of the strake.

These tabs on this new boat are wider (on the transom) than the 9” Lenco’s I’ll be using. Since the geometry is different, I’m thinking it would make sense to ‘key’ off of the actuator position and set mine the same.

Any thoughts on lateral placement??

Thanks, Brad

The placement of the tabs on the various Donzi's I think would be interesting. I have wondered if the placement of the tabs made much difference myself.

This is the drawing from Lenco.

Jack, I have been waiting for someone to post on the Lenco tabs. I was thinking on putting a set on the 18', when I finish it. How do you like them?

The Lencos have had my interest for quite awhile but at the same time had me a bit spooked having electric gizmos in the water. I have had a lot to do with various electric thrusters and the Lenco electric trolling tabs which we have been fixing once or twice a season for two different clients. The tabs themselves seem to be holding up. I have even asked our local supply house about them, they say they are very popular due to ease of installation.

Very easy to install and they react instantly to the positioning controls. Have had them on for going on 2 years, with alot of use in salt water. They still look and work like new. They have a 3 year warranty and as of now would purchase them again.

They are nice looking units, another plus if they do go south you only blow a fuse no nasty oil in the water.

Looks like Jack's tabs are set about where I'm planning to set mine. (Thanks for the pics Jack!). MOP: you're right, it would be interesting to see what all is out there and effects on performance.

Instalation may get delayed tomorrow due wx...but progress is being made. Closer all the time.
