Are trim tabs worth getting as an option on a new Donzi Classic 18? The boat will only be used on lakes. Your input is very much appreciated.

I love the Bennett tabs on my 1997 18'. I wish the boat had either Bennett Trimdicators or mechanical indicators to give me a visual reference to their location. I may put on the indicators this winter. My wife loves the tabs due to the way I can make the boat cleave the waves and chop at slower speeds, giving the boat a much smoother ride if conditions warrant.

I bought a 2003 Classic 18 with a 377 Blue Scorpion, through drive exhaust, trim tabs and indicators. Out of the box it ran 67 mph but chine walked to the point of being extremely unstable. A little tab stabilized the boat, but reduced the speed. I installed a Land & Sea Stern Jack and a lower pitch prop. Now it runs 72 mph and is much more stable even without the tabs. Although Donzi would not sell the boat without tabs with the 377 Scorpion, I recommend them period.
