Hey, guys I'm trying to tighten the throttle housing on my side mounted mercury throttle control. How do I gain access to the screws behind the plastic cover that sits behind the throttle handle itself. I feel if I gently pull the plastic cover it may break. Do I have to disassemble this housing to gain access?
Do I need to pop off the neutrel lock out button?
Please advise.

I am not sure what part you are trying to tighten but on my throttle if you pop out the nuetral switch and there is a nut on there that holds the handle itself on. To actually get behind the whole throttle assy I had to remove the large "pad" that the throttle housing is bolted to.

I hope that helps.

Scott, thanks for your reply. How do I pop out the netural switch?

Well, on mine IF I remember right I peeled the rubber cover off and carfully pulled the actual button out with a couple of small screwdrivers. The actual button itself is very thin so be careful not to break it. After pulling the button out the nut was exposed.
