I'm certainly not the Donzi expert you guys are, but I'm gonna guess that it IS a Donzi (16 or 18) that someone has added a windshield to...

I agree. 16 with a bad windshield.

Where is the "donzi" hardware?
There aren't any cowlings on this boat.

Hey,
Doesn't the rub rail look a little "funny"?

I certainly agree about the rubrail and the windshield...my conclusion was based on the basic hull design...but I don't know what cowls Francis is referring to...if bolted on, they are easily removed---if molded in(which i didn't think they were), that is a little harder to change. Same goes for that deck---it looks like someone added some teak or something to it. Bottom line, is that some people can ruin a perfectly good looking boat http://206.150.187.82/ubb/wink.gif

I looked at the images pretty close with graphic converter and none of the hardware looks
original. The foredeck cleat is a thin T design as are the stern cleats. The lights are wrong as is the
rub rail. The dark areas are applied non-skid. There are no vents (cowlings). Since Forrest has
a first run 16 with the merc, I compared the two boats and the Scan boat has a different hatch profile than the '72. The Scan boat has two gas tank vents, I don't think that was stock. Add all
this with an original engine being a 120 four banger and you get copy written all over this thing.

Well it is not a Donzi. notice the lack of lifting eyes!
In the seventies there was a company that made speed boats similar in appearance to the Donz.
I believe the company was in Italy. another quasi copy can be seen in Moonraker...one of the Bond films.

Okay,...ordinarily I don't have this much time on my hands, but---for a goof I emailed the guy selling the "non-donzi" and for what it's worth, he says it is a real Donzi which he has "customized". He also sent me a .jpg of the original brochure. I really need to get my boat in the water and seek professional help...
