While not for engine gaskets, the mouse pad material which comes in many thicknesses and stiffness has endless uses. My son asked for a suggestion to use for a deteriorated rubber edge on the heater damper door on his GM pickup. Mouse pad worked great.

Fill gaps on weather stripping for doors, hatches, etc. Use as added cushion for clamps securing hoses, and wire harnesses, etc.

Good bedding material for some things bolted to bulkheads and the like.

Your feet sore from Italian, Chinese, or whatever footware? Use it for shoe padding either for whole sole or just heel? Can also add insulation to footware. Hold in place with rubber cement, double stick tape, etc. Watch out Dr. Scholes'
