Attended a party yesterday on Georgian Bay, there was a good cross section of scoots and snowmobiles.

Danny, will those scoots work as fuctional water craft. Or can they only run over ice and snow? Do they have edges in the bottom for turning?

We use them all winter. Some people use them during the freeze up and spring break up when the ice is bad and then switch to snowmobiles during the winter. Our place is tricky to get to, the currents keep the ice from getting very thick and this has been a very strange winter weather wise and the ice is not great this year. The hull is primarily flat on the bottom with a rounded chine on the sides. You steer with the rudder and there is a lot of side slide(sort of like four wheel drift in a car} when you are going around corners, that's the reason for the rounded chine so you don't have a sharp edge to grab during cornering and flip you over. They have a brake that is a drag mechanism on the transom that digs into the ice, operated by a foot pedal. They handle like a jet drive drive you need some throttle to effectivly steer.
We did go through some open water and some broken pack ice.
They plane in the open water just like a boat.
My cousin's is the green and white one(second pic).On glare ice (a lot of that this time)we glide along at probably 30-40 mph at 1200 rpm. You can easily get upwards of 100 mph, REAL SCARY never gone anywhere near that fast. You have to be real careful on smooth ice, the extra power is for sticky snow, slush and conditions were ther is a lot of drag.

No grass growing under Danny's Corsican...

Thanks for the pics, I've never seen anything like a scoot. Well, airboats in the Glades, but not much like a scoot.

Bunches,

Wish it was my Corsican, Im not sure I could get away with 3 Donzis. It was hiding at the marina in Honey Harbour where we scoot from. I took a quick look under the cover, nice boat.

Very nice boat... why not three Donzis? Seems that folks around here snatch em up like tater chips!
