I have heard that there is a mathaematical formula that will calculate your HP within a reasonable degree of accuracy. If someone has it would you share it as well as any experience you may have had with it.

I know there is a speed and prop slip calculator but I have not seen the HP calculator.

Go-fast does not make it obvious or intuitive.

On go-fast click on Knowledge Base, then speed

Doug, I see everything but a "Horse Power Calculator", I don't think this site offers this function.

I might have what you are looking for. I don't remember what web site I got it from, but I can e-mail it to you if you want. It has several different calculators in it, some for the more mechanically inclined.

David, send it over and I'll take a look at it. I saw several on the web but they were all geared toward cars.

Maybe you can answer this question then...

Why is the hp rating for the 5.7 350 truck engine 255hp, yet the same marine engine is 260hp? Just curious...

ahhhh but the marine engine HP is rated @ the prop shaft.. if you are running through an alpha add another 30 to that and you have the crankshaft hp.... which i reckon is where the truck hp rating is taken from. so in reality... 255 vs 290....
