I have heard some shops can apply a clear powdercoat. That would probably be the way to go...

Thanks for the reply about my boat. About your clear coating my friend did his drag car, step 1 paint motor with heat resisant paint then any color you want base coat clear coat for example. This works excellent and will not burn off. If you want any more info you will find me under what year. Thanks Deano

I looked everywhere for a Hi-Temp clear coat and could not find any.

I have used regular clear on intakes, heads etc and they all turned yellow.

Sam, since you boat in fresh water I would leave the aluminum bare, the only time that I have seen corrosion on aluminum parts is during the winter lay up which can easily be avoided by using a good corrosion protect on the aluminum parts when you winterize the boat.

An occasional fine mist of Marine CRC will do the trick and won't hurt any painted or stainless parts either. In fact my mechanic recommends this
since it will prohibit corrosion on many parts due to condesation in the engine compartment!

Believe it or not there is a clear anodizing. The only way to tell is if the part is conductive. Anodizing is not conductive. I don't know if they can mask off critical areas because it may add to some dimensions. It wouldn't matter on the intakes, but it would on the heads. Rick

I found a 500 degree clear coat at the auto parts store. I called the mfg and they said It is intended for engines. Any other feed back would still be appericiated.

Scott did you use the product on just the painted surfaces or were there any unpainted surfaces such as aluminum. That's the direction I want to go IE my heads and intake. I'm going to go to a automotive paint supply store and see what they have to say.

Sam,
You can paint booth bare cast or aluminum. Also I use automotive clear on polished aluminum. And to really blow peoples minds you can add some radiance die to the clear so it will be any color you like. Looks better then anoidized! There are all different kinds of prep you need to do depending on what you are painting or clearcoating. Let me know exactly what you want to do and I will give you the heads up.

Dan...You never heard of that saying? "Shines like a ruby in a goats ass"...

Scott,
I need to talk to you about this clear coating thing too on some new parts.

I think you need to get rid of the farm animals out of the backyard though!
