Anyone have any bright ideas on how I can have the Arneson drive, transmission, bell housing and miscellaneous items shipped from maryland to Florida without spending big $$?

UPS said it was too heavy and left it. (At my friends place)

I've been quoted $300 to $400 for this job....too much in my book!

Jamesbon,
UPS does not ship over something like 100 lbs. I got a quote a couple months back for a big block motor (around 650 lbs) to be shipped from Alabama to Mass for about $275. I will try and track that company down again for you.

Jamesbon,
Where in Maryland?
& Where in Florida?

It may be to late but my dad was suposed to be going from Frederick MD to Sarasota FL and back this month. I'd have to check and see if he's made the trip yet, the pick-up and drop-off locations would have to be close though. He'll be driving a F350.

Try Roadway Express (http://www.roadway.com/). I just sent a 140 HP outboard motor in a heavy crate from Florida to Minnesota for just under $200. The whole thing weighed in at about 400 lb. The buyer actually paid the freight on the other end, but that's what he told me the costs were. Just make sure that you pick it up at at the depot and and the sender drops it off at the depot, and use the tracking number to determine when it arrives at you local depot, otherwise the trucking company will charge you another $20 some-odd dollars just to call you when it arrives. BTW, UPS will ship up to 150 lb. but it really gets expensive with them over 70 lb.

Good luck!

RickS,
Wow! The drive is in Fredrick MD and I live in St. Pete, but I could certainly drive 40 minutes to meet in Sarasota...

Forrest,
I'll try them for a quote.

Thanks...Nate

Jamesbon,
I'll e-mail my dad and see if he's made the trip yet and if he's interested. I'll get back to you.

Jamesbon,
Is the deal done and the parts ready to go?

Will the parts fit inside a truck bed, under a bed cover? I would think they would.

James,
I used a freight company. Look in your yellow pages for a local company. GEOO

Rick,
They're boxed up in two wooden crates. Transmission 100 lbs +\-16x16x18"
ASD#6, bellhousing, misc. 165 lbs 48x18x16"

I'd be happy to to lay $150.00 on him for his troubles.

My only concern would be the possibility of theft or something along the way at a hotel or something...

Nate,
I'll send you an e-mail with some contact numbers for my dad. He's leaving this Friday. He has a hard shell roll-up bed cover on his truck and a lockable tailgate. It would be very difficult for someone to get into the bed, plus he usually stays in military housing on trips. The only catch is that the box would have to fit under the bed cover, 48"x18"x16" should fit. Tell him what you are willing to pay for the transport. I'll check back later.

RickS,
Thanks again! I met your father late Saturday night and picked up my ASD 6, transmission and misc. parts.

Again, I really appreciate what you and your father did for me. (I'm having a hard time putting this in words right now) Thanks to you, your father, this website and it's creator for bringing trustworthy people together for everyone's benefit.

Sincerely,
Nathan Schlaeppi

Nate,
Your welcome, anything to help a fellow Donzi owner. I'm just glad I read your post when I did. So what's the drive for?

My dad's a cool guy, and I really look up to him. Did he tell you what his trip was for? He's delivering BadDog's father a brand new 18-Classic this week. Oh ya, I can smell the new resin & fberglass now!!
