I have an 18ft Donzi Classic that currently has an OMC 350 (5.7) engine with a King Cobra outdrive and I am considering repowering it with an OMC 454. I would like to know if I have to do any modifications to the transon and engine mounts for this modification.

The guy with the asbestos suit just has size-envy: http://www.donzi.net/photos/floydt012.jpg

You'll need a tall hatch like on this: http://www.donzi.net/photos/floydt010.jpg

Yes it does add a lot of weight which you really notice due to the lower ride.

Sorry Reddog, & I like your boat. But a 383 stroker is a better choice because of the weight.
Damn, I just sided with the poodle eek! but keeping your '18 light is the way to go. It will handle much better.
If Donzi thought an '18 would ride right with a big block they would have done it along time ago.

2 cents, the rat :D

If'n it was me..

9.0-1 406 or 434, Vortec heads and intake, SSM exhaust..

your done... :D

see how easy that was.

or, use your 350 block with a 406 rotating kit and get the latest 195 Motown heads port-matched for your intake/carb combo, mild hyd. roller cam, 1.6 roller rockers, plus SSM stuff, and your good for 460-475 pump gas power under 5200 rpm.

I luv spending someone else's money.

The mounts and bell housing should be fine. CDMA
Chris, Bob from Van Duzzer gas had an 18 with a 383 it was a howler. Legend I think Buzilla really got the right idea, granted the big block does look awesome but how sweet to blow by with a Wee block. Besides you won't be happy unless do it all over and right. Question for you guys that like to get the most GO why no two four barrel setups? Or is just not worth it?

cause you just don't need that much air and fuel flow on that small a motor at the RPM's we spin... although, they do look nice.... you can generally get as good if not better performance from a single plane if you are looking for the top end...

I still have a crush on my old Edelbrock XF8 on my 289! but don't ask for much under 3500 rpm... :D
