Made an offer on a 2000 22Z bowrider. Says it has 250 HP. Looking to build a sleeper. Are there websites with packages to build my 250HP to 300 or better???

I am FAR from a motor head, but I believe that is a carbed 350 260HP...
Whipple it! That would wake everyone up!

If you Whipple or Procharge make sure you are not running an Alpha drive, That drive will not take the torque of a supercharger.

FJB20:
I currenely own a 98 Classic 18 with a 250hp
Brovo 1 turning a 23" Veangeance prop. I
can tell you that this combination works.
The boat was ordered with the a 275hp
carbureted 5.7 LS but MerCruiser killed it
1998. So I was somewhat disappointed.

I was not disappointed wiith the perforrmance
though. She will run 65.2 on radar with my wife and 30 gallons of fuel on board. I have seen hi 60s in the boat alone. I have done a lot research on this motor as you can imagine.

On my boat , I would lose the Vengeance
it begins to suck air not to much above
neutral trim, the tack hits a wall above 4600
rpm. Lose the 2 barrel carb and intake, this
is the first place to start. Than you can look
at a cam and clean up the heads a little , the
last thing I would look at is a alumimum
exhuast. This would cut some weight Mecury has finally figured this one out.

Frank is right about a Turbo he had Pro
charger installed on his 22ZX with a nice running 502 all ready, so the turbo put the iceing on the cake. By the way it was nice meeting you at the NY show.

With the mods I mentioned you will bump that
250 to 100+ hp if you add a low pressure
turbo say 4lbs on a small block you might
get another 50 to 75 hp. Thats over 400 hp.
You will need a Brovo drive for this kind of
power, plus I would look at the bottom end.
With 100 hp my 18 will be well into the 70s. You can scare yourself at those speeds, but you got to love it.

As for a sleeper don't waste your time or money, get something that people are not going to admire at the dock or on the trailer, I dusted a Volocity 24 at Lake George last year with 3 passegers on board, I kept on makeing
hand gestures to open the thing up, sad thing
is I thing he did, I have also dusted my share
big block Checkmates and Bajas. Know
thats a sleeper with style.

Now for the tacky sales pitch This boat is for
sale I want a HO 22. She is white with a
black custom from Donzi deck and hull stripes
250 hp,350 with a Brovo1 drive which was
not offered with a 250hp motor at the time
Donzi did me a favor. The boat has a gray
carpet, a black cockpet cover, Slient choice
and chrome bezeled VDO instruments, some
people on this site bash VDO but they are
used in every Porsche, BMW etc. on the
planet, so I would not be to hard on them.
I have added a remote oil filter to motor
because I tired laying across the exhaust
risers to chang the oil, which is down twice
a season, boat has low hours and fresh
water only . I purchased it from Lake George
Boat Company In April of 97 and the boat
was deliverd on July 4th. The drive is serviced
and checked every year. I want a 22 because
boat on 2 big rough lakes and would like
something with a little more hull. I am
a confirmed deep vee Donzi Classic owner,
so a 22 is my only choice.

The boat is pictured on this site in the registry
and the forsale section with it's custom performance trailer . The price in the sales section is not firm so call me in the evening at
908- 964-3259 or e-mail me at phillib@earthlink.net.

FJB20 if you want a250 to build up get in a
real Donzi to go with it, and the Brovo drive you will need anyway.

Again please don't mind the bad grammer, long week and I can not find spell check on my
Mac. By the way I think a turbo is as a waste
of time on a 2 barrel carb 250.
