with all 4bbl upgrade on my 4.3 i am now turning 5200 rpms with a 3 blade ss prop pitch is 19. I was thinking of trying a 21' revolution 4 mercruiser says they are great for v6 boats. but I have heard that you need to be turning alot of horsepower to turn a 4 blade prop well. what do you guys think or hopefully some one has tried one of these props on a v6.

The Rev 4 is a big wheel to turn. What is your goal for WOT. Mercury shows that you should be running between 4400-4800 RPM at WOT. What modifications have you made the the motor. You of course need to stay in your torque band where the max HP is produced. Let me know if I can assist you.

Mike,

Not sure what we're turning exactly. I'll try and post pics after this weekend.

We have a 97 4.3 16 classic and are turning a 4-blade. It has 'Mach' 'Stern' 'Driver' on the inside and 145(i think) x 25 stamped on the outside. Last year the fastest on GPS was 48.6 MPH but there was a tad bit of throttle left. I optimisticly figure (hope to verify next time out) that we can hit 51-52 GPS.

Hope this helps in some way. I'm going to refrain from messing with the engine / prop until everything else is in order.

i am turning an ss 3 blade 19" i was turning 4800 rpms with a 2bbl. i put on a edelbrock manifold and 4bbl carb. now im turning 5200 rpms. runs great but want to get the rpms back down to 4800 but still keep my holeshot i have with the 19". i was also thinking about the 3blade michigan wheel ballistic prop with the vent holes to keep my holeshot.
