Tim, you came to the right place for advice, but you will be asked by all members for some more information. 1st, the stated HP and size of your engine, 2nd the GPS or speedometer (usually not accurate)speed of your boat currently along with an accurate rpm of the engine at WOT (wide open throttle), 3rd the current pitch and diameter of your current prop, 4th the gear ratio of your outdrive. With the above info you will receive some very accurate advice. Without it you are asking for a guess from all.

The stated HP is 285. It is a 351 ci and the currant prop is 14 1/2 @ 24. I dont have a clue about the gear ratio of the out drive. Thanks for your help.

Randy, once a stutterer, always a stutterer. Now why am I getting multiple posts when I reply to a message. P.S. - picked up my 97 18' yesterday in Amarillo TX, and surprise it has a 1.65 ratio Bravo 1, so the race is on! And last, don't stutter on the alter.
