On my TRS drive the hose from the drive to the transom oil resevoir had a crack. I caught it before much oil dripped but it is very hard to get to! I do not want to pull the gimbal off etc... I was able to get a peice of outboard fuel line on the transom hose barb. Does anybody know if gear lube will soften it up? I assume that if gasoline won't gear lube is ok but I would hate to be wrong and have to change my boats name to the "Donzi Valdez". There is no pressure in the line and it stays cool. Thanks for your help!

I think you should be fine.

I agree with Chris, if you think about it alot outboard fuel hose has mixed gas/oil in it all the time. The problem with fuek hose in the past was the alcohol content in gas, it deteriorated the hoses pretty badly.
