well, I finally got moody in but really havent driven her much due to carb/tank problems.

I am cleaning the carb in that ultra strong carb solvent in the parts cleaner at work wink . so hopefully doing that and rebuilding it will help. It seems the accelarator pump is not working, my guess is there clogged.its time for a cleanin, its been 2 seasons without opening up the carb..

Great photos.

When cleaning your carb, a lot of solvents won't touch the corrosion associated with aluminum.

Soak it in apple cider vinigar for a couple of hours. Trust me. It works.

Boat looks GREAT, man! Love that blue!

When I got tired of messing with my old carb, I ordered me an Edelbrock. Under three bills at Summit. And free shipping... Bolted it on, and have not touched it since. It's my third one, (three boats), and they are nearly foolproof. Starts RIGHT NOW, idles at 500 rpm, no flat spots ever. Definitely one of the last true bargains out there...

scot, the solvent i use is at a motorcycle shop and almost every carb we have is aluminum. in other words, this stuff works awesome on aluminum.

Jim g, Bro thats the carb I run(edelbrock 750cfm)AKA: Carter AFB

You are right, it's one of the FEW bargains out there. I also think its the only carb that you can change, main jets, secondaries and needles/springs Without draining the carb of gasoline.

As a matter of fact I was changing needles and springs out in the bay trying to get rid of a "cruise mode" POP(was running good in power mode but ran lean in cruise mode). I figure I changed the springs for the needles 3 times without gettting rid of the cruise mode POP, so I changed the needles the 4th time and BAM POP was gone.

Try doing that with a holley. wink It would probably take way longer. wink

but hey, to each there own

Not the only one Moody. You can do it with an old Autolite and with a newer Holley 4010 & 4011 carb.

bill g I stand corrected! wink

m.o.p., no the 270 t/t drive isnt in, that is for the fall. I have such little time to do anything I figured I would do the tank, and drive at the same time, along with a complete painting of the inside of the hull.
