With all due respect raritan, WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND CRUISES IN A DONZI AT 2500RPM and worries about fuel consumption?? http://206.150.187.82/ubb/rolleyes.gif

FonziDonzi has a point, I'm only starting to get on plane at 2000.
Why the interest?
It doesn't matter. We're goining to use them regardless of the gas mileage.
I couldn't even fathom a guess as to what my boat does. We go here, we go there, we blow over to that island. At the end of the day, we burned $30 in fuel. And I don't spare the throttle, too much anyway.

If gas goes to $5.00 we will look for the Donzi sailboat. What am I thinking? Nothing will keep us off the water!

As of now I Dont worry about gas mileage at 5000rpm 540hp out of the prop. Gas is the last thing on my mind Pure speed!! is Waiting on gauges and its test time on the water.. Chuck from Runnaway racing is going with me, Andy from Typhoon racing said Heck No! I wont go. We Dyno tested the boat at 585hp lowered boost to 4.8psi AT 540hp. This should put me up in the 85mph territory. I need Imco steering stabilizers now and Kiekeffer tabs. Got my racing numbers L-22 and with the ultimate navagator by my side my wife Melissa. We will see how we do in the August race?

If you had an old 18 with the original 18 gallon gas tank and lived on a river that has only one reliable source of fuel in about 40 miles of river and that source of fuel is closed Monday through Wednesday and you wanted to take an early in the week cruise, you might occasionally have a worry about fuel consumption. I consistently burn about 4 gph at 2500 RPM and about 8 gph while pulling a skier constantly through a slalom course or at 4000 rpm cruise. 2500 RPM is over 30 mph in my boat and 4000 is at least 50. I have a Ford Motorsports 5.0 HO long block with the original HM manifolds, a Holley 600 CFM Marine carburator with vacuum secondaries, a Mallory Unilite converted Marine YL distributor and a mondo Mallory coil that will send any idiot that gets too curious about it a very violent shock. Went with the Blue Max wires because they matched the Ford blue motor. My drive is a Volvo 270 with a 14x24 Volvo 3 blade Ultra High Perfomance prop. The drive says it has a 2.5-1 ratio on the case. It'll pull about 5,000 rpm with just me and a GPS in it and that is about 63 mph.
