I just purchessed a 1967 16 . (So the title says) The title says the hull number is the Florida Reg. number. The owner said that he had it inspected when he inherited the boat, and no one could find the hull number. It is not on the transom. Did they put it somewhere else also back then?

Thanks,

Your's should be written on the backside of the dash (eg. C16XXX) or on the underside of the forward deck. Black felt pen, then glassed over.

There are MANY others with late sixties 16' hull's that can also help out!

Best of luck and I hope it all works out for you!

Thanks, I looked there but the lighting sucked. I need to get all the leaves and trash out of the boat. The boat has had alot of work done to it. Someone actually put a 470 merc in it. Consider it gone by the time the day is over.

Tim,
Welcome, and good luck with your 16! My '67 16' (http://www.donzi.net/hull.cfm?id=198) is hull #16420, but is not labeled as such anywhere on the hull due to the fact that it was re-gelcoated about 8 years ago.

Take and post some pictures of your restoration as you go along. You'll soon find out that there's three things this board loves:
1. Donzis
2. Pictures of Donzis
3. Pictures of girls on Donzis

:D ;) :p :p :p :p ;) :D

My '67 had 16-401 on the backside of dash at each end, felt tip pen was used and then glassed over. Disintegrating dash has been removed, deck recored with Baltek end grain balsa, new sections of stringers spliced and glassed in and transom wood replaced. Hull is now upside down having strake cracks repaired and readied for paint. Hope your's is in better shape than mine was.

On my '66 it was behind the right side of the dash written as described above.

I got the 470 out. But not before my friends snapped a picture. I'll post it to give you guys a laugh. I am on my way. Thanks for the help.
