I found a TRS outdrive w/gimbal housing - cheap. One question though, do you have to use an external transmission, (Borg Warner, Velvet drive etc.) or do these have an internal trans.?

External, you should have plenty of room in your engine compartment but check. TRS good to about 500HP.
They sure shift nice with the right transmission but not very efficient.
Does the transom bracket come with it? How about power steering?

Hmm, on the "external transmission" note, I think I'll continue my quest for a Bravo 1. I'd like to bypass the extra weight of the transmission, etc. I didn't see trim pumps or a bell housing, but I thought 2K wasn't bad for a TRS and gimbal assembly.

James, I agree skip the TRS. The transmission would push the engine to far foward in the boat. The drive & tranny weights 100lbs+ more then a Bravo. GEOO
