Thank God for my "secret weapon!" After seeing these you'll understand why I hired the best. We found a few previous repairs which we ground out and re-glassed, as you'll see in the pics. Although we're just starting the bodywork, I can finally see a dim and I mean dim light at the end of the tunnel. This was one long overdue restoration. (actually the only thing I've done was to strip paint down to the gelcoat. i.e. pic #4)

Nathan, That looks exciting. The guy doing my 21 is in Destin Florida and I am in Bolivar Missouri frown.gif I've got him taking pictures though I havent got the first ones in yet. At least my Dads down there to keep an eye on it. Yours is going to be nice. What are you doing with the interior? What year is it? I am having acess panels put into the floor so that I can reach the fuel sending units. Any updates that you are doing that I might find useful? Thanks Rick

Hey Nate,Nice work on the transom. I'm still not there yet, my secret weapon (fiberglass guy) hasn't been making himself available for a while. I've got everything ground out and this weekend I am going to cut the wood for the transom and supports. We've been having some unseasonably warm weather up here and this weekend is supposed to be nicer than ever so I'm gonna log some hours in the garage. Hopefully I will start putting some back this coming week. Your miles ahead of me. From where I'm at, the light at the end of the tunnel is still a train.

Rick,
I have removed the original giant heavy marshmallow like seats in favor of 2 low back buckets from an 18 Classic. The "new" seats were stripped down to the fiberglass buckets and will be recovered in white with red piping. The old seats were too heavy and bulky for my taste.

I have a factory access panel molded into the center of the cockpit, but haven't checked to see if the sender is accessible through this hatch. My new fuel cell is only about half the height of the original, so it should be more accessible. I'm using a nylon 52 gallon tank identical to the new 22 Classics.

I removed the ski storage tray which was under the bow. I suppose I'll fabricate a small floor under there for storage. With the ASD #6, I highly doubt any water skiing will ever be done behind this thing...

I plan to add a couple amps under the bow for the stereo and make the back seat support a hidden/integrated sub woofer box.

She's a 1971, I think...or a 1972. I'd have to look at the title...

I also plan to add coring under the dash board. The GT's have a removeable dash panel or dash board. When removed, the dash is somewhat weaker due to the cut out for the glove box.

I also plan to add snap in carpet.

Other things I'm changing is the addition of pop up cleats and I'm still thinking of not putting the lift rings back in. She was kept on a bunk type lift, but will probably reside in a warehouse on the trailer after the resto. So lift rings won't be needed. They do add some detail though....we'll see how I feel as it comes along.

Keep your head up Greg, she'll get there. (I owe you a water pump....I'll get her packed up and shipped this week, I promise.

Nate

Nate, Iv'e taken the ski rack out and will also put in a sub floor under the bow. Won't it be nice to have a place to put somthing! I am going to put the interior back to original. On mine the hull was a dark blue with an off white bottom and top, no boot stripe, at least in the gelcoat. The stripe was only 6" wide. I am trying to make it as original as possible for now. Good luck on your project. Will post some pics as soon as I get some. Rick
