I am installing a Procharger M-1 on my 22 classic, it was nice knowing you guys , has anyone done this and what tips do you have? I have just started removing all the parts from the front of the engine and will be setting up the oil return lines this weekend.

Geoo, (George Desmond) 106 MPH in an 18, or so..., Shanghied Again, (Frank Civitano), high 80's in a 22 ZX, and I believe CDMA, (Chris Allard) have all been through this...not to mention Big Grizzly and the Criterion. (Randy)
Lots of info to come for sure...
Jim,
What engine, carb, injected?
615 hp and 650ft-lb out of a mild 454 with an M1 on it...ran great on the dyno...now I need to get it in the boat....
Chris

In January, I spent 3 days at Nickerson Performance in PA. doing some experimental dyno testing on a M1 Procharged 1990 Mercruiser 454 Magnum. I can tell you this, there is a lot more HP to gain with some fine tuning! My #1 recommendation is to run the Nickerson prepped carb, #2 is you MUST run a boost refecenced fuel pressure regulator or you will burn it down! After the Mag was tuned as best as we could, It ran 675 hp @5500. We then installed an experimental low restriction intercooler/carb box and made 740 hp, all vitals were fine. We then decided to jet up 2 sizes and run a 1/4" smaller pulley. The end result was 785 hp @5500 rpm. Pretty impressive numbers for a stock 454 Mag and a bunch of well chosen BOLT ON PARTS! I wrote a 4 page story on this ordeal and it will be in the May issue of Family and Performance Boating magazine.

Holeshot, you want to go with an Intercooler for sure!! Will save on the engine wear and tear big time. The Procharger produces a tremendous amount of heat, and as we all know, heat is what leads to most problems and failures. If you go to Procharger.com I think it is, they have all sorts of articles. They put a Procharger and Intercooler on a 502 Mag that was in a 25' Checkmate Convincor...it added 23MPH!!!!!!!!!!! Might want to get a parachute to wear on your back. Good luck.

I have one on a 502 with a closed cooling system and intercooled. I'm mild with 698HP @5200 and 700 pounds of torque @ 3977rpms. I dynoed it at Garry Grimes and use a 825 Demon carb we worked with Barry Grant the Owner of Demon. Runs nice and starts like an injected one and idles like a stocker. I'm running 4.7psi of boost and don't recomend any higher than that on the M1 charger I have the 7psi pully and the other 80+ hp but this is a daily driver and the durability WILL suffer! I have a ton of hours on mine. I strongly suggest a bigger fuel pickup and larger fuel line as at full throttle I can burn 315+ pounds per hour. If you don't don't blame the Procharger people they tell you modified fuel system. BTW except for the weak one they all come with a intercooler. Show up at an event and we can see if I can add more than 23 mph to the origional top speed, otherwise you'll never know.
