Looking for ideas for a side-mount throttle for the 18. What's hot these days?
The 'star wars-orthodontic' that Gaffrig makes looks kind of funky (at least in the pictures); the new Teleflex with the safety-engage slide looks/feels kind of clunky (hands-on with that one); what else??

Anybody have or want to get rid of (as in sell) one of those old chrome Donzi originals? Yeah, right! :D

OK, how about an old Morse out of a ski boat, got to be some of those floating around. I've even got a new chrome handle for one of those jewels.

Any ideas anybody. Got something on your boat that you like that's readily available in the market place?

Gaffrig side mount wont work. Its too deep and will hit the hull side. Early Morse is the coolest looking.

Hi a few days ago in the registry there was a post on foot throttles. I looked a the site "Specialty Service" they had some real intersting looking shift and throttle controls.

Phil,
I contacted this site about prices about a month ago and they are not cheap at all. If I remember correctly they were selling the single handle for $280 or so and something crazy like $500 for the single engine 2 handled throttle/shift one.

Here is the link to the site:

Scott, thanks for the heads-up on the Gaffrig.

I agree on the old Morse control. That IS the look to have, and they work mighty nice, too(many an hour in ski boats). Had one in my posession not too long ago, but it's gone now. Still have a new chrome handle though. :)

Anybody have an old Morse or Morse parts?

Took a look at the Specialty Products. Can see where they'd be pricey. Good tip though.

Ooohhh! Ahhhh! Craig, I really like those units from Specialty Products. Too bad that they are so expensive.

Forrest,
I know, for the whole setup (2 levered single engine hand throttle & the foot pedal that works together) I think it had a price tag of $750 or so. What ever it was I ended up deleting the email just so I would never be temped to buy it.

For $310 you can buy a 2-levered gaffrig top mount http://www.donzi.net/photos/gaffrig.gif at Nisonger Marine with mods needed to make it fit :D
