Past posts on the subject indicate that the Merc Bravo1 works real well on the ZX boats. It is a 4 Blade stainless, so I'm not sure what pitch you should try, but most prop companys suggest an inch of pitch less to go from a 3 to a 4 blade prop. Contact Frank Civitano with the Northeast Donzi Club (http://northeastdonziclub.homestead.com/index.html) . He works for a Donzi dealership and owned the fastest 22ZX I ever saw run. Lil Griz with a Whipple 22ZX is very impressive also!

Just purchased a 22zx myself. First boat I have ever owned and I am seriously impressed. I am also running the merc 350/300hp. It has an alpha drive and uses a Merc bravo 1 4 blade stainless steel prop. Speedo's are not exact and it read 62 with more to go.

I have a '99 22zx with 502 Magnum. I'm running a stainless steel Bravo-1, 26p, four blade prop that I had labbed at Mercury Racing. I'm run 78-80 mph at W.O.T.

I've also got the Merc 350/300hp setup on mine with a 23P Merc Bravo 1 s.s. 4-blade.

I had a Mirage 4-blade s.s. prop on my previous, older Donzi and was really happy with it as well.

On a 22zx with a Alpha drive you should be running a 3 blade prop, 21-23 pitch depending on your motor, if you have a Bravo 1 drive the same props will still be good. The 4 Blade prop is not a good prop for speed in a 22ZX. I know i have tried them all, but the 4 blade has faster takeoff and more stable ride, all depends on what you want to do with the boat.

I owned the same boat until last year.
4 Blade B1. Assuming Alpha Gen II 1.68 drive.

Bryan,

My Alpha is a 2nd Gen with a 1.62 ratio. The boat is an '01 and really gets out of the hole nicely with the current set-up. I'm pretty happy with this but am always open to suggestions from board members.

All of my boating is done on lakes and occasionally on an inland sea known as 'Lake of the Ozarks'...

When my boat was from the factory it had a 24p bravo. After working over the engine I now run a bravo 30 four blade. Of all the props I tested the 4 blades worked the best. The three blade props cavitated too much on planing and when getting trimmed out. The four blades I tested were better acceleration, stability, and top speed was just as high as a three blade. Most of the three blade props wouldnt even get the boat out of the hole and the ones that did required lots of effort.
Frank used a 4 blade bravo on his boat as well and he tested several props also.
The only other prop I have used so far that might work as well as what I have was a hydromotive 28p 4 blade. I borrowed it from a friend and he had the prop worked over heavily for his specific boat. If it had a bit more bite (which I was told his particular prop was labbed for less bite) it would have worked fine. I never got a chance to test a out of box version but I plan on it.

Has anyone tried the Revolution IV 4-Blade? I've got a buddy with a Baja H2X 24' 502MAG and he said that he got better overall results with the Rev. IV than with the Bravo I.

I've got a '97 22zx 502MAG and I'm looking to replace the stock Mirage Plus 23P.

With a 350 mag, try a 22pitch 4 blade bravo1, My 22 came stock with a 24pitch bravo1 but i had a big block 7.4.

I have a 2000 22ZX with 300 HP 350 and Alpha 1.62 drive.

The boat was delivered with the 22P Stainless four blade bravo. It blew out real bad comming onto plane and also came up to the Rev. limit (around 5000) way to quickly. Changed to the 24P Stainless four blade bravo and it seems to be the perfect prop for my boat.

It could be tweaked with lab finishing. I run in the low 60's at 4800 to 5000 rpm's.

I also have a 21P four blade prop that I use for water skiing. It really has a great hole shot and mid range acceleration. Top speed is low 50's. It had to be cupped a little, when I first tried it, I had problems with it blowing out comming up on plane and in hard turns. The added cup cured that problem.

My prop guy tells me that the four blade prop will work best overall with the aggresive step characteristics of the 22ZX hull. When I asked him about the 22P Bravo 4 blade prop, he wasn't surprised I had problems with it. He claimed it is an inferior prop. Can't remember his reasoning, but he sure new his stuff and did right by me.

Have fun with that boat, I sure like mine!
