I found this last night. It is the ever so desirable Alpha SS. Looks to be a good one. Any takers. Just give it a look.

THe skeg on that one looks different than mine possibly has been repaired ... appears longer and trimmed back at the front

looks almost exactly like the skeg on the SS i have (W/ Mod VP gearcase). maybe it was either modified as in swept back or what not. might be an Outboard CLE case also - if so it should have a torque tab on the opposite side from this photo angle.. you cannot really tell in the photo, but... if it was an outboard gearcase there would be an EXTRA oil fill vent plug just below the joint between the upper and lower half. also the SS case i believe has the Low water intakes ON TOP of the nosecone where as the outboard stuff has em on the bottom (don't quote me on that)... it appears possibly that these are in the bottom BUT it is hard to really tell again in the photo. also notice that the wear pads are missing where the gimble ring guides on the drive.. 34 bucks each + shipping...

just a few observations, but then again i may be blind.. anyone see anything else?

if you are serious about bidding on it i'd write the person and ask for more photos from different angles...

Honestly James, I'm not interested in it!
I am to tied up with other priorities right now.
My "humourist suggestion" was made only to prevent a bidding frenzy against each other that would/might create i'll feelings at this club member site.
Unnecessary money spent doesn't make anyone the winner, it only shows that you spent more then you needed too. But if the drive unit is being auctioned by a club member then by all means let's help him boost the e-bay price up!

I like to consider everyone here as friends and not competitors.

Best of luck to all once again!
i'm not in the running=Walt

Here's another photo for comparison. Mine also has the water pickups on the topside of the nosecone. Looks like the same tab shape as the one on ebay.

No longer running the 3-blade mirage+ in that photo. Now run a 21 pitch Hydromotive Quad-IV that was labbed by Hydromotive recently. They reduced the diameter from 15.5" to 15" and added a bit more cup at the blade tips. This is expected to get me about 400 more rpm.
