FUEL TANK IS BONDED, THOUGHT I WOULD CHECK MY PLUG WIRES AND COMPARE WITH MANUAL, THE INTAKE SAYS 15426378 MY PLUG WIRES ARE ON IN THIS ORDER 1273658 THERE IS A CHANCE THAT I CROSSED 1 PAIR WHILE CHANGEING PLUGS BUT I KNOW WHICH TWO IS THERE A WAY TO FIND THE CORRECT FIRING ORDER FOR A ENGINE THIS INTAKE COULD BE OFF OF SOMETHING ELSE THE ENGINE IS EITHER A 302 OR 289 I AM COUNTING PLUG WIRES AROUND THE DISTRIBUTOR CLOCKWISE STARTING WITH THE POST FACING THE #1 CYLINDER
WHICH IS CONNECTED TO 1. THE BOAT I HAD BEFORE RAN, TIMED OUT AND SOUNDED GOOD (LOW POWER) BUT HAD FOUR PLUG WIRES CROSSED WHEN I BOUGHT IT I DONT THINK THIS IS THE CASE AS THIS ENGINE RUNS GREAT AND HAS ALL SORTS OF POWER BUT I WOULD LIKE TO CHECK THIS OUT A LITTLE CLOSER THANKS

Be careful using the firing order cast into the manifold. Some (maybe all?) h-m 302's used a cam with a 351W firing order. Depending on when the manifold was cast it could have a different firing order used in original 289's. I have the h-m manual for my 71 hm 302 with the correct firing order, which incidently is the same as my 87 Mastercraft with a 351W (both are standard rotation engines).

I believe all small block fords eventually changed over to this firing order because of a cross firing problem with the original 289-302 firing order.

All early Ford 221,260,289,and 302 had a 1 5 4 2 6 3 7 8 firing order. The new EFI engines use the 351 firing order 1 3 7 2 6 5 4 8. This was to reduce stress on the front main bearing.

Instead of all EFI 302's I should have said "82 and up 302HO engines".

OMC produced some 302 powered boats in the '70's that had 351 firing orders. The manifolds still had the 302 firing order stamped on them.
