And I thought the thread on steering wheel removal was pretty informative...

Some people just don't know how to follow directions.

A bud of mine knows the owner (previous) Story goes he got a $1000 fine from Dept. of Conservation for the gas @ oil leaks... the salvage company took the boat to compensate for recovery costs in 60' of water. The poor rich kid will reportedly be sporting a new 26' BAJA this summer. This accident was the result of attempting to jump the wake of a larger boat at speed. Friend says the Donzi got cock-eyed and probably nosed in on it's side. Both driver and owner were thrown clear and came to on the surface (lived). Some broken bones were involved. The driver (who lost an eye in a previous daredevil stunt accident) scared the s--- out of rescuers who thought he'd lost an eye in this accident. Guy apparently has a reputation for reckless behavior. These boats are definitely not kids toys and here's the proof.

MURPHYS INFORMATION IS ACCURATE.BECAUSE OF ONE EYE, THE DRIVER DID NOT HAVE THE PROPER DEPTH PERCEPTION TO JUDGE THE DISTANCE OF THE LARGE WAKE TO THE SPEED OF THE BOAT AND
AFTER HITTING THE WAKE, HE TOLD ME HE WOUND
UP 20 FEET IN THE AIR AND WENT IN ,NOSE FIRST.TO ADD TO THE BAD NEWS, THE SALVAGE
DIVERS WENT DOWN WITH AIR BAGS AND CHARGED
$12,000.OO TO BRING IT UP.DRIVER DID BREAK RIGHT LEG EXITING COCKPIT ON STEERING WHEEL.
MORAL OF STORY: RESPECT THE POWER OF YOUR
DONZI AND ALWAYS WEAR YOUR KILL SWITCH AND LIFE JACKET AT ALL TIMES.

If I am above idle speed
THE KILL SWITCH IS HOOKED!!!!
My wife sows button holes on my swim trunks pocket for the lanyard.
The thought of surviving getting thrown from the boat and then having it come back and run over me is not very appealing.

What's the last thing a red neck says before being killed in a horrific accident???

"Hey ya'll! Watch this..."

(Guys like this are ruining it for the rest of us.)

It sounds like the salvage company got burned on that deal. They should have left it on the bottom.
