While slow idleing this afternoon, I noticed a hot rubber smell... thought it was a belt, but it turned out to be the port side exhaust tube.... it was getting quite warm!

Seems like there's a lack of water flow to the port side exhaust syatem. Dosen't seem to be a problem at higher RPM's.

Water pump?

T-stat?

Any ideas?

sounds like maybe a sticky check ball in the thermostat housing or a rusty riser... are both risers hot? or just one? if it is just one this is probably the culprit.. if both... i'd check the water pump impeller in the drive next, assuming this is an alpha...
