I located a classic sixteen which the present owner bought at an auction in Atlanta. He had little information on the history of the boat, so I hope that you guys can give me some input as to whether his asking price of 17K is reasonable. I saw the boat and it appears to be a 72-74 in very good condition. All original chrome with no pitting, paint (blue with blue and red striping) has few blemishes, and blue/white candy stripe interior with no damage. The kicker is that although all hardware, gauges, etc., appear original, the motor is looks like a 350 v-8 from a corvette (insignia on engine block) with edelbrock headers. Finally, boat has brand new trailer. My concern is that although the boat is in great shape and very clean, the price is too high given other examples I have seen on this website. Thanks for your help.

Run, don't walk to Rick R's house and get a great deal on his 18 2+3. At less money it puts that overpriced thing to shame.

17K is way to high for an older 16. Heck, we just sold a brand new 99 16 Classic, w/305 & trailer for $16,500. Walk away from this one, there are plenty more 16's out there for sale.

If you are interested in buying a Donzi that is worth the money, look at RickR's boat. I have seen the boat and it is truly FINE. Lot more boat for less money and in your area.

Sounds like a wonderful boat but is that 1 in front of 17,000 a typo. 7 grand would be more like it a la the one on e bay.

The mad poodle is right again. http://206.150.187.82/ubb/wink.gif

In the 1972 era Donzi used a cris Craft enginge with the ensignias.

About the money,
If you want a boat in a basket for cheap $$ write tot the Harbormster. He has all the parts assembled and will do a sweet deal if you want to go that route.

Now if you want fully restored 16 that goes fast write to Jim Cancil (grumpy@wetstuff.com) and look at his 16 that was for sale for 10k. That is if he still has the boat.

Good luck.

Robbie, a friend of mine had a 1976 16' sweet sixteen that had the corvette valve covers. I think the drive was a chris craft. He is has up to a 22' white and teal 2+3.
