1) Nathan (Jamesbon) Schlaeppi
2) Kelly (another "Donzi Girl" Fallon (thanks GeneD)
3) My 1971 (motorless) GTX 21

I'm bringing my big red beast, and plan to take the title of the "slowest Donzi," at the event!! (although I heard I might have one competitor) If you want a ride, please bring oars!! Hell, with oars, BEER and an anchor, it might still be fun in the water, not to mention, it gets great gas mileage!!

My motor's at the machinist's undergoing yet another transformation...... http://206.150.187.82/ubb/frown.gif

I better get moving on gettin this boat ready. The new motor is in and now has 30 minutes of "in-driveway" cam break-in time @ 1500 to 2500 RPM, (my neighbors just love me), the Alpha SS is mounted, and the UPS should be bringing me a new trim pump and trim-cylinder rebuild kits today. Just need to detail it out a little and . . .

Unsure if the newly acquired GT 21 with the chipped waterline stripe will make the trip or not.

I have a seminar in Orlando on Friday. I don't have anywhere to store it Thursday night when we arrive and can't see my wife dragging it around town Friday until the show starts. We'll just see.

Hope to see everyone that night. Save us a cold drink (or two).

If need be, you can store that bad boy
Donzi over at my shop in Melbourne, exit 72 off I-95. A hop skip and jump from Rt. 192 which is what I'll be taking to get to the show.

Lineleader;

Why don't you check with Donzi and find out if they have a dealer in Orlando. I'm sure you could park it there for one day before the show.

As long as VFR conditions exist, I will be down Saturday with my pilot Bill Hess. Since I am taking the last 10 days of April off to go diving in the Caymans, the boss said I couldn't take the time off to drag the Mello Yello down there.

I booked a room at the Universal Radisson on the web for $89. Is this a good rate? I will be there as long as VFR conditions prevail. If it rains, I guess I'll be out the $$$ and the http://206.150.187.82/ubb/biggrin.gif.

Emmo, you got a good deal all right, I paid $109 for my reservation there. The Donzi Marine discount was even better than my usuall airline employee rate! Sounds like a nice hotel, plenty of restaurants and next door to the Portofino.

Now is this the Radisson at the entrance to Universal?
I booked last night for Saturday night for $89 also. I'm thinking that Friday night I'll either go home or stay at one of the flea bags in Kissimmee. Whoa is the unemployed engineer!
Emmo, it won't rain, believe you me. It hasn't rained here in months. Significant rain anyway.
You may not be the only one flying in by private plane. I got some buds that may do the same thing.

Scot V,

Thanks I booked a room at the Universal Radisson $ 99.00 called the "cool deal". Friday, Sat & sun.

Gene,
I'll bring my testing equipment. We'll have to hook up Friday. I want to see your SS & go for a ride. Do you have any interest in trying out the NOS??? It's sitting in my basement.

Can't bring a boat this year.
Look forward to meeting you all.

Say who's gonna do the judging of the boats?
There should be several classes and lots of prizes from Donzi.

Maybe we could form a committee of three or so to do the judging. http://206.150.187.82/ubb/wink.gif

GEOO, that's just what Gene and 007 needs . . . a little shot of laughing gas! Gene, be sure to bring your "I'll work for 93 octane" sign. You never know, the might be a good intersection near the show!! BTW, I'm going to water test the '72 16 on Wednesday or Thrusday. I would test it this weekend but, I forgot to go to the Tax and Tag office to renew my registration. Hmmm, maybe I can use the registration sticker that I pealed off of the ex-Smokin' Gold - that is if I can find it. Anyway, this will be the first time in about 4 years that this boat has been in the water. It still has the original steel fuel tank and I don't smell gas . . . but then again, I haven't hit any waves yet. Keeping my fingers crossed. See you guys in Orland.

Forrest,
Some of the original sheet steel tanks last a long time.
Now if the sender opening is large enough for a thin arm, you could consider using an epoxy baldder to coat the interior.

I did it once. Had to empty the tank, and flush it with a water soluable solvent that removed 99% of the gas fumes.

Then dry as a bone and brush off any area of corrosion and clean it out and then with a damp acetone rag wipe out all the dust.

Then after plugging the inlet and outlet holes, pour in the epoxy and with a stiff brush or rubber brush using a light and mirror on an arm, paint the entire interior surface. The trick is you can't miss any spot and it can't be too thick. If it doesn't run it's the right thickness.

Then just let it dry for about 10 days and using a popsicle stick test to be sure no areas yet to cure. Once cured, it's good for the life of the boat.

They use it in small motorcycle tanks.
I used it in a 1937 steel barrel tank in a Chris Craft. Used it for 10 years and sold it in 1982 and the boat is still running with the same tank.

It sounds like a lot of work but it's a lot less than spltting the deck.
