From what I know it's a bored and stroked 350,,,,,then again I'm wrong all the time..

if you look at the valve covers you will know it is a smallblock

From the specs it's a standard 350 bore sbc with as close as you can get to a bbc 396/402/427 crank stroke with the sbc journals. Not the same as the old style 377 when you can use the sbc 400 block and a 350 crank.

**Edited** Actually, I have had bbc's on my mind too much because this is just a sbc 350 standard bore with a sbc 400 crank stroke. Basically a sbc 383 setup with out the .030 bore done to the block.

Tony, judging by the one pic it looks like Strawberry Island on Lk St Clair. Do you know this fella well, and is he aware of AOTH II. I'm going to have to keep my eye out for him next summer. We are practicly neighbors, Canton is just to my south by a few miles.

Sam,
I would guess it's more Muscamoot Bay than Strawberry. Then again, I get lost in my own backyard... Nice looking boat.

Freckles, unless this was an older pic I don't think that big Carver would come close to Muscamoot with the water levels being what they are. Do you live on the lake ? My home port is the Algonac Harbor club on the N. channel.

I was guessing more like in front of the airforce base. The Socorpion package is just a bit less than the 500 HP concidered one of there race motors.

The Scorpion is also concidered a race motor. $6,000.00 difference......

Sam, We've seen boats that big get into Muscamoot last year, altho they usually have a brown trail behind them. No one gets into Little Muscamoot anymore, but a friend of ours has a 31' Amberjack and he's out there every weekend. Stay on plane and to the right as you're going in (but not too far right). The reason I didn't think it was Strawberry was because I've never seen the water outside of the island look that calm. I figured it was one of the bays like Muscamoot, Belvedere or McRay (the one Turbo mentioned.) (My husband thinks it's McRay, also...)

We keep our boat (272 Formula) on the trailer in a lot close to the Clinton River. We were launching every weekend this past year--put 102 hours on the boat. Looking forward to this summer, but it sounds like the water levels are going to be even worse.

Sam,

I've got the guy's e-mail address, e-mail me and I'll give it to you. Freckles, you'll have to join us when we get together next summer for our Donzi Gathering on Lake St. Clair!

Just a reminder... You can check www.mwdonziclub.com/members.html (http://www.mwdonziclub.com/members.html) to get Mr. Kalinowski's e-mail address. I'm hoping he will be joining the Michigan car-a-van to Kentucky in May. I'd like to experience a 70 plus ride in a 18' Classic. I'll buy the fuel!! biggrin.gif

I exchanged e-mails with Bill about a year ago when he was considering a Scorpion over the MX6.2MPI. It is HIS boat I refer to when I call Last Tango (my 2001 18) the "World's (second) Most Expensive Classic 18". I know he had a tab well over mine. I'm not aware of any others that were built. Anybody out there see another anywhere? All that motor and still Mercury didn't put polished stainless steel exhaust manifolds and risers on it. Still...it's purrrrrrrty!

Freckles, I would love to get together next season. My wife and I are on the big boat every weekend usualy starting in late April. Although I don't take it out every weekend the Donzi usualy always gets wet at least once a weekend. Looking at the tree line in the photo it probably is not Strawberry Isl. That's usualy where we go to hang out/meet friends. If your interested in doing a little traveling with your boat let me know. We travel several weekends as well as a two week cruise. Give me a shout and I can tell you more.

Does anyone know what type of exhaust tip/muffler set-up is on this boat? I have the Stainless Marine long tube headers and am going to need some type of external mufflers. The noise police on Lk. Geneva are pretty fierce.

That's what I thought, there has only been one built. The package has been available for several years but no one has bought one until now, mainly due to price. To make the 377 Scorpion, Mercruiser takes a GM 350 block and puts in a forged Lunati 3.75" stroke crank. They also add hypereutectic pistons, a special cam, and a "scorpion only" intake manifold. This is the same combination as a 383 c.i. motor. 383 c.i. comes from a .030" over 350 block and 3.75" stroke, 377 c.i./6.2L comes from a standard bore 350 block and 3.75 stroke.

The MX 6.2L shares a lot of parts with the Scorpion. They both get the same forged crank and pistons, but have a different intake system and probably a different camshaft. The MX 6.2L is rated at 320 P.S.H.P.

The exhaust system is Corsa. I believe it is called quick or quiet. My 2000 Donzi has the same system with the 350 Mag in it.

I have been wanting a Donzi since I first laid my eyes on one in 1964.I realized my dream when I purchased this 2002 18ft.Scorpion powered classic. We took delivery of her in June of 2001 so at lay upo time I just completed break in.We are looking foward to a great boating season this summer. The boat is fully loaded with factory options as well as a master lube system and drive shower. Our best spped run of the summer was 79mph on gps.I'm turning a lab finished 25p 3blade ss prop.Has anyone installed Imcos Thumper exhaust manifolds? When my warrinty expires I am planning on installin a whipple supercharger.I am honored at all the great messages we have recieved regarding our boat,by the my she is named TIME"N"PLACE after our favorite place in Jamaica.

Scorpian,
I assume you're running a Bravo drive right? Once again, sweet looking boat, with performance numbers to boot! Not only can she talk the talk, but she can definately walk the walk!
