Just curious to see what if any synthetic gear lube is being used in your drives.

I've used Redline's Heavy Duty synthetic for the last three seasons. Don't know what the trusty Volvo AQ200 had in it the previous 32 years!

Been using Amsoil for the last fifteen years in my TRS drive. Don't know what it had the previous 9 years. With the exception of the prop shaft seal and U-joints being replaced twice, all the other parts are original.

I have used Mobil 1 75W90 with no problems for the past 5 years in my TRS drive. I think I have a slight leak on my prop shaft seal. I have to add about 1/2 quart every 75 hours. Since I have a reservoir it is easy to add and keep track. It also holds 4 quarts so there is some reserve capacity. I wonder if conventional oil would not leak?

jwright,
Yes, your TRS drive does hold 4 quarts but be sure you always are getting a reading on the dip stick in your resevour. You don't have to get very far below that 4 quarts before you begin to starve the upper gear box in the drive. As long as you have some gear lube in the resevour, the drive itself should be full.

TAT is right I use in all my boats. I also use Amsoil in my race bikes -- the best way to go and I've used all the rest in oil tests- 24/7 for 6 solid months it was superior to the resr/
