Ok Guys here we go again:

1991 Classic 18 2+3

4800 @ 60 mph with a 91 King Cobra 350. Prop is a 14 1/4 X 21 Viper. Rev limiter never hit but had perhaps 1/4 extra throttle. Any ideas? Lake conditions were smooth etc. All ideas appreciated! thinking about a 23" pitch but may be a bit agressive?

Thanks, Randy

You havn't any choice. Go with a 23 of the same kind of prop to use it as a base line. It may work great. Than you need to try different brands and typs of props. This will give you a comparision. The problem is you need to find some dealer willing to help with the testing-lowning of props. I was lucky and have a friend in the business.

Hydromotive will work with you. Very friendly and imformative people. As long as the prop looks the way they sent it they will exchange it. when you get really close they will dial it righ in. Since there props all come in one inch pith icrements you usally can get alot closer beforeneeding custom work.

More info: Freshwater, local reservoir here in Jackson, MS. 2 onboard with approx. 10 gallons fuel. Temp 57, water conditions fairly calm and flat.

Speedo was bumping 60, will verfy with GPS soon. We trimmed using the lower unit and the Bennet tabs to eliminate porpoising, but we lack experience here so someone please post correct procedure for trimming for max speed.
