Has any of you Classic 22 guys had you boats on
scale. The factory list it a 3,400 dry, add fuel,
oil etc.+ the trailer I am thinking arround 4,300
pounds. Am I in the ball park? I have a V8 Grand
Cherokee with a 6,500 tow rating I do not see a
problem thier. But I also have a V6 Liberty rated
at 5,000 pounds which tows my 18' with litte fuss.
I figure the Grand Cherokee would be fine for long
runs and the Liberty OK for the 5 mile trip to
the local ramp. I do not leave my boat in water
so I would need to use both SUVs. The Liberty has
a trans and power steering cooler, heavy duty
cooling and suspendion plus a class 3 reciever.
Power Boat tested it with a 22.5 Stingray that
weighted 4300 and they very impressed with
it's ability. The weelbase is only 1" shorter
than Grand Cherokee.

Thanks:

3400#s Boat (DRY)
330#s fuel
Batteries
Gear
Cooler eek.gif
800#s trailer (Aluminum)
I guess it depends on the cooler weight wink.gif
I'd use the Cherokee for the trip to AOTH II

I tow my boat 22 Criterion (which is a little heavier than a clasic)with a grand Cherokee and the V8. I'had both a 94 witha 318 V8, and a newer one With the 4.7 V8 which tows great. Some times when we go On long trips My wife makes me use her Expidition with the 5.4 V8 whigh is really nice too. She like it because we don't have to pack we just throw stuff in the backand it dissapers from sight. I do love my Jeep.
