Finally managed to get some pics of the old beast to share. I'm going to sink my teeth into this project over the winter and am presently trying to spend my idle time fantasizing about this project instead of lamenting over horrors of life in the real world. http://www.donzi.net/photos/jeld001jpg[/IMG[IMG]http://www.donzi.net/photos/jeld002jpg http://www.donzi.net/photos/jeld003jpg http://www.donzi.net/ph otos/jeld004jpg http://www.donzi.net/photos/jeld005jpg

The boat looks great!
If you dont need the bottom paint I would take it off. You really got a great lookin project and we want to see the whole thing completed. To get the bottom paint off my old boat I had it corn blasted and then wet sanded it. It is a project but it looks great when you are done trust me.

good luck

Thanks for the input. I will leave the boat in the ocean in the summer months up in Maine and need the bottom anti-fouled for that reason. If I were to trailer her or keep her in southern waters on a year round basis, I would remove the bottom paint and keep it high and dry, but have no plans to do so at present.
As for plans, I basically am just set to do a basic repower and engine bay detail so I can use her next season. I have removed the former engine and V/P 270T drive and all associated components, which were tired. The engine bay is currently bilge coat gray in color and I am thinking of doing it in a bright orange as I recall having seen this done in another boat years ago and I liked it. Beyond that, it would be my intention to simply keep the boat as close to original as possible and enjoy fast cruising along the spectacular coast and islands of Maine.
Thanks again for the input.

Just purchased at an auction this past weekend a 73 21GT. I am interested in knowing what engine you took out of your's?
The boat I got is in very good original condition. It appears to have a Chriscraft engine maked 350 with Corvette logos on the value covers.

Danny, a 16' and now a 21'; looks like you are joining the ranks of the multi-Donzi owners. How did I miss seeing this one?? or is this the one that was at Central Marine( dark blue). Congratulations on your purchase.

WJE,

Great looking Donzi. I've really taken a liking to the GT model. How-ever, for now, I'll have to stick with my 18 Classic. If you decide to change the V/P 270T to a Mercruiser model, I'd be interested in buying the Volvo from you. The trim that your drive offers is a piece I would really like to have.
