I friend has a 1968 18ft Donzi with the original 390 ford engine. Does anyone know
the details of this engine? Was it the ford fe block? Did it have hi-perf internal parts? Horsepower output? Any other details
would be helpful? Also, during transporting with he bought water got down into a cylinder. Would this completely ruin the engine? Please reply. Jim

Hey guys am I right in saying that the classics never came with a 396 stock?

Never saw a 18 classic with a 390. But, anything is possible.

The 390 is a FE engine.

Water down in the engine can ruin and also may be repairable by simply draining, flushing and refilling several times. Where did the water come from?? What did it get into?? Will the engine turn over??

Lots of questions here.

The model is an 1968 18ft classic. That's all original. All my questions are referring to just the engine. My friend that has the boat told me it has a 390ci. I remember the Mustangs had a 289 and 390 in 1968. The 302 came in 1969. Anyway when the boat was delivered to my friend about 5 yrs ago he told me the boat didn't have a cover on the engine and the manifold was off of it. By traveling through rain it got water into a cylinder. The engine is out of the boat in a barn and the hull is outside in the elements. Maybe the only way to tell if it ruined the engine is by removing the heads.

The 390 that I remember wouldn't clear the hatch. The Corsican is the only one that would fit that under it without hood modification. However if it is The H&M was a 300 hp with a V drive or the highest outdrive package was aH&M 290 hp.
