I have a Thunderbolt IV Ignition witha 24 degree module, How do I tell if I have a rev limiter? Is there something to look for in the engine compartment or is it part of the igintion module?

I think I have a 4,900 rev limiter, at that RPM the tack needle "vibrates" and I don't rev higher than 4,900

I thought I read it has a adjustment that will be 5,200, how do i do that?

The rev limiter is not adjustable.
The best way to find the limit is to run a smaller prop and see where you end up.
If the tach is bouncing you're probably there.

What do I need to do to up the rev limit? Is it as simple as installing a MSD or Jacobs ignition module?

Add a compatable mechanical advance magnetic pickup distributor to that list and get a ign module model with RPM limiter. Then you can bypassall the Merc stuff

You can just change the Merc ignition module to one with a higher rev limit.

Rick do i just ask for a Thunderbolt IV V8 ignition module with 24 degrees advance and a 5,400 rev limiter?

I can't afford the MSD at the moment
