I'm following the directions on the photo upload page, but I am not having much luck. The upload transaction finally times out and I get the standard "The page cannot be displayed error message. Can anyone tell me what I might be doing wrong?

Rob, how large is the file size that you are trying to upload? Is your internet connection slow? These things could contribute to the system timing out on you. Try to upload the smallest pic you have and progressively move on to bigger pics. Just remember everyone here like quality pics, but the big ones take too long to load for many people.

Good luck, David

I don't think size or speed is the problem. The JPEG's are around 70k, and I have a broadband connection to the internet.

Rob, I looked at the Sourse Code of your first post and there is a null URL for your image command.

In other words, what ever pic you wanted in the post would not have shown anyway. E-mail One of the photos to Me. And what you want it called, At

Working just fine for me.

Here's the Code.

"<BR>Working just fine for me.<BR> <img src="http://www.donzi.net/photos/osaffell20000.jpg"> <P>You know, a short work shop on this posting stuff at AOTH would be pretty cool!<P>--------------------<P>Be a Dog. Have a Dream..... "

You know, a short work shop on this posting stuff at AOTH would be pretty cool!

You'll note my src has a valid URL.

The way the Instant UBB code works, is in tandom with the cut and paste edit functions. First Cut or Copy the URL or text you want, then hit the Instand UBB code you want, then put your cursor in the middle of the commands and paste whatever you want the Command to operate on without any spaces between the operant and operators.

To look at Post Source Codes, just save the page as Sourse, then open that file in a Text Editor. You can then see all kinds of neat URLs and how UBB code is translated into HTML.

Owen:

Your are correct, I was just fooling around with the UBB commands when I did that. My problem prior to trying to access the uploaded images. What I am having trouble with is the actual upload of the JPEG file. I'll use the browser button to point to the file on my hard drive, click the upload button, the upload process will start (i.e. the task completion bar at the bottom of the screen will start to increment), but the process will finally time out before it completes and I get the error message I referenced earlier.

I can get as far as it wants me to name the file that's where I run into trouble, I posted soem wiotjout naming them under "other performence boats" "Challenger 21'" and was not able to post the photo but a hyperlink that lets you view the photo

I guess we're just trying to isolate the problem then to this board or your Broadband Connection. Let me look at a file anyway just to cross the Is and dot the Ts. :D

Philip, on the upload page, you are not naming anything. The file you want to upload should already be in the first initial last name XXXXX.jpg "ddanforth001.jpg" format on your desktop or someplace easy to find on the Harddrive. On the Challenger 21 page it looks like you just used the file names given by your sony camera to the pics. Once you get them off the camera and in your computer is when you can rename. When you hit the browse button the directory/file menus will guide you to the file which you will then open and you'll see the file name appear in the upload window. Then hit upload and wait for the upload report screen to appear. Your 98% there, all you need to do now is put the whole URL inside the image commands to display them automatically without clicking on a link. But if you're doing a list of pics, its really nice for your Bandwidth challenged Donzi Brothers if you use links.

Oh, and I always use lowercase for all file names and extentions. This makes it easier to sort out filenames.

Philip,

When you post there are 10 "instant UBB code" buttons beneath where you type your posting. Click on the "IMAGE" button and it will display a window on your screen. Put in the path to your graphic. http://www.donzi.net/photos/xxxxxx.xxx

xxxxxx.xxx being the name of your file.

As for your upload timing out, what browser and version are you using? Are you on a windows or mac machine?
