Caught a portion of a discussion about proper hubbing for Alpha drives. I have a 21' Vengeance on my Z22. Dont know if it has a solid or rubber hub. How do I tell?
Is it true that I can damage my drive if I use a solid hub?
What is the appropriate hub (part number) that I should be using?

You should run a rubber hub with an Alpha drive. It's just not heavy duty enough to take the impact that a solid hub prop places on the gears while shifting. You shouldn't need one anyway. Rubber hubs are good up to about 400 hp.

There are several different types of solid and rubber hubs on the market. If you have the new flo-torque 2 mercury prop there will be a removable plastic or steel sleve in the center. The steel one is a solid hub and the plastic one is designed to handle up to 400 hp.
